Glossary

Dhamma(dhamma)
The teaching of the Buddha; also: phenomenon, mental object, law.
Khandha(khandha)
Aggregate; the five groups of clinging that constitute a person.
Mettā(mettā)
Loving-kindness; the wish for the welfare and happiness of all beings.
Nibbāna(nibbāna)
The unconditioned; the cessation of greed, hatred and delusion.
Paṭicca­samuppāda(paṭiccasamuppāda)
Dependent origination; the conditioned arising of phenomena.
Saṅgha(saṅgha)
The community of monastics; the noble community of realized beings.
Sutta(sutta)
A discourse attributed to the Buddha or his disciples.
Vinaya(vinaya)
The code of monastic discipline.
